Proof Barber Half Dollars An Under-Collected Sub-Series

Back when we started the Bargain Collector columns a few years ago, we took a broad look at the Barber half dollar series. Big, classic silver is always a subject that collectors enjoy, and 50-cent pieces from before the ever-popular Walking Liberty halves can definitely pique folks’ interest. But in looking at the biggest of the Barbers, we didn’t do more than give a casual glance at a select few within the series, meaning the proofs. Let’s rectify that and see if there might be anything here that a person can consider a bargain.
