It has been said for decades that the .30-30 Winchester has killed more deer than any other cartridge. While that was true once, I doubt it is today. Still, history is what it is and the .30-30 cartridge remains in the top five in rifle cartridge sales last time I checked. It’s popularity today is a bit of an enigma. It’s the last cartridge standing from what was once a dynasty of Winchester branded deer hunting cartridges. All the others from that era have been banished to the trash heap of obsolescence, while the .30-30 stands strong.
