When I saw you in Verona …

Rather than what’s in it, there’s a better love story behind this sappy rom-com about American tourist Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) going to Verona, Italy, with her fiancé and meeting the “secretaries of Juliet”, who reply to letters addressed to the late Ms Capulet asking for romantic advice. It’s that Vanessa Redgrave stars in her own romantic subplot about trying to find her Italian long-lost love. in 1966. They had a son, then split up, and reunited decades later. Pity the movie wasn’t more about them, really. (2010)
