After reaching the peak of their natural progression from electronicore warriors to synthpop stalwarts (which came with their 2017 album The Spark), Enter Shikari went back to square one for 2020’s Everything Is True & Nothing Is Possible. Not only did that record serve as a wicked return to form - where The Spark and its predecessor (2015’s The Mindsweep) saw Shikari lean a bit on the safer side, Everything Is True revitalised their classic penchant for radical experimentation - but it felt like a love letter to the band’s two-decade tenure up to that point.
It had the grit of (2007), the forceful intent of (2009) and the mulish exaltation of (2012), rounded out with the ambitiousness of and the glossy, pop-leaning production. It was, in a sense, the definitive Enter Shikari record. Thus begs the question: where could they possibly go from here?
