Walking into the home of architect Theodore Chan and ceramic artist Delphine Sng, the first thing that strikes you is how airy and spacious it is. Known as the Gallery House, it has six mezzanine levels and was built on a 168sqm plot that belonged to Sng’s father, in the Serangoon Gardens neighbourhood. And while some of the houses on the same street that sit on similar-sized plots are modest one-storey terrace homes, the Chan-Sng abode is truly quite spectacular when it comes to creating both depth and volume—at 390sqm, the house has been built up to more than twice its footprint.
