When looking back over the years that I have been involved with farm machinery, some tractor and machinery incidents, and the characters associated with them, remain memorable.
Whilst tractors were the main focus of my work at North Western Farmers Ltd., the range of farm machinery we sold was varied, due to NWF being a main dealer for several manufacturers. Principally, we sold the whole range of International Harvester tractors and equipment, plus machines from Kidd, Bomford, SKH, Claas, Wright Rain, Howard, Johnson, and occasionally others, such as Allis-Chalmers.
Other equipment we supplied included grain bins and forage storage towers, along with the associated filling and emptying equipment from Spiraflite and Kongskilde, although it was rarely seen again after it had been loaded onto our lorry and shipped to the purchasing farm.
