AAA Indian Heritage Costume Class

When Mel Wills heard, in 2021, that her dream class, the Indian Heritage Costume Class, would be making its long awaited return to the show arena at the 2023 AAA 50th Anniversary National Show, her heart literally skipped a beat! With a couple of years in which to prepare, and wonderful support offered, she realised that one of her most magical showring dreams could actually come true!

Mel Wills, and her sister, Leigh-Ann, began riding horses in their High School years, after their Mum bought them a lovely ex-racehorse. The sisters shared Crazy, as he was called, and they rode him all around the cane farms. After that, they’d borrow horses so they could ride at the local pony club. It was only later, when Leigh-Ann owned and showed a couple of Appaloosas, and also bred a few Appaloosa foals, that Mel eventually made the Appaloosa her breed of choice, too!

Mel begins.
