This is Nickel Creek’s first new album in nine years and while much has changed in the world, it’s good to hear that the band’s stunning musicianship hasn’t changed. Comprising Sean Watkins (vocals/ guitar), Sara Watkins (vocals/ violin) and Chris Thile (vocals/ mandolin) with bassist Mike Elizondo, the band has a rich grounding in bluegrass and country but they greatly expand on this with elements of jazz, folk and classical.
