For some time now, for reasons too complex and surreal (and probably incomprehensible) Florida-based author and environmentalist Jeff VanderMeer (The Southern Reach Trilogy) has on social media jokingly pretended to be a baby raccoon. Taking the jest to its illogical conclusion, on 1 April Jeff VanderMeer released a preview of the cover of his new memoir, I, Baby Raccoon, certainly one of the most amusing and elaborate literary April Fools’ pranks of the year.
