THE sole-surviving former Wisbech & Upwell Tramway (W&UT) loco, Class 04 No. 11103 put up for sale at the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway (RM April p68) has been acquired and moved to a most appropriate railway.
The 0-6-0DM has joined the Mangapps’ fleet, which includes seven other ‘Drewry’-design locos of BR Classes 03 and 04, and a similar industrial version.
The priority is to complete the loco’s radiator repairs to enable it to run again. Following further mechanical work it will be restored as near as possible to its original condition and appearance with side skirts and ‘cow-catchers’, as fitted for use on the roadside tramway.
