A new report by Ireland’s Marine Casualty Investigation Board (MCIB) has found that the continuous operation of an outboard engine at its maximum design capacity was a key factor in starting a fire aboard a yacht which subsequently sank in Ringabella Bay, south-east of Cork, in December 2021.
