Earlier in the year, on our way back from south Wales in appalling rain, we noticed signs indicating the ‘Black and White Village Trail’. We logged this information in our minds and vowed to return to the area for a long weekend in hopefully better weather.
Soon we were back on the road and heading west once more with the intention of following this route.
We based ourselves at a Brit Stop by the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre in Craven Arms. This proved to be a good centre, not just for exploring the actual trail, but also for visiting the towns of Leominster and Ludlow, both famed for their black and white architecture.
The trail is designed to start or finish in Leominster so can be driven in either direction. It is well signposted and, where the suggested route is only really suitable for small ’vans, alternatives are given. We were glad to see this as, over the years in our worldwide motorhome travels, we had too many of those breathe-in moments!
We started our adventure in Leominster, where, to our relief, parking was easy – a large, well-signed car park
