The future of flooring has never looked so good. With many different options available to suit a variety of design styles and budgets, floor covering choices in the kitchen and bathroom are plentiful. Yet what exactly should you consider when choosing the floor for your home?
“Floors create the foundation for your space,” says Rachel Gilding, design specialist for Beaumont Tiles. ”When considering flooring, I’d ask these sorts of questions: What type of traffic will the area receive? How do you live? Do you have children or pets? Is your home a social haven with plenty of guests? Are you a daily, weekly or fortnightly cleaner? Answering these questions will really help when choosing your flooring as you want it to meet your needs.”
Of course, budget is another key consideration to keep in mind. “Think about your budget because you don’t want to be heartbroken by a material you can’t afford,” advises Rachel. “But you also don’t want to select something very cheap which will cause you to pay more due to its poor durability or required maintenance regime. Always invest in your flooring first. Decorative elements can always be retro-fitted when the budget allows.”
Perhaps the most important tip is to remember to choose what you love and dream about. “Trends come and go, but you want something that matches your unique style, which could be a blend of trends,”
