Though he later received Golden Raspberry Award nominations for the likes of Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2, director Bob Clark’s early work has seen its critical stock rise over the decades. This box set of his three horror films amply demonstrates why.
The spark came when Clark and pal Alan Ormsby went to see and, as Ormsby jokes, “decided to rip it off”. It’s a cut-and-shut of a movie, beginning as a warped black comedy, thick with waspish sniping, and descending into a zombie siege in its final third.
