THE Stadler Hitachi Joint Venture, which is in charge of the £288 million contract to deliver new trains and a new signalling and communication system for the Glasgow Subway, is confident that the project remains on course for the trains to enter service later this year.
Strathclyde Partnership for Transport, which owns and operates that the first of the 17 new trains being built by Stadler for the system are likely to be introduced during the second half of 2023. They are expected to operate in unattended mode from 2025, once platform edge safety screens have been installed at stations.
