2024 elections Too early to celebrate amendments to the electoral law

On MONDAY, President Cyril Ramaphosa signed into law the Electoral Laws Amendment Bill (B1-2022) to become Act 1 of 2023.

The law will allow independent candidates to participate in the national and provincial elections for the first time.

The signing marked the culmination of a long process that began in 2020.
