In one of the defining early moments of Taylor Swift’s career, in 2008, she sat on a maroon armchair as a guest on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, chatting about her new country album, Fearless.

Swift, prodded by DeGeneres’s rapid questions and general nosiness, revealed that one of the tracks, Forever & Always, was about her recent ex-boyfriend, pop star Joe Jonas.

DeGeneres assured her that she would have no trouble moving on, and Swift agreed.
