Authors who write articles for Backtrack or books for publication will often have need to consult ‘archives’ of one sort or another to obtain the basic information or fine details required for the completion of their work. These might be ‘official’ formal centres in record offices, museums or libraries, some of which might be excellent, others perhaps less so.
