Samba sides set to dominate

For a five-year period only one Brazilian club made it to the final of the Copa Libertadores. That was as recent as 2014 to 2018, but it now seems like ancient history. The competition has entered into an era of almost complete Brazilian domination. An immense financial gulf has opened up between Brazil’s big clubs and the rest of the continent, and the consequences on the pitch are obvious.
