When our late beloved Queen was crowned in 1953, it rained. However, such was the post-war jubilation felt by the nation that no amount of drizzle could dampen the enthusiasm of the enormous crowds that trooped to London to watch the procession. Since Queen Victoria’s coronation in 1838, all subsequent ceremonies have taken place in May or June, perhaps to avoid inclement weather.
