GUNS OR SWORDS?

NIS America is always a company we like to keep an eye on – not just for its RPGs, which are its traditional strength, but its continued support of classic franchises. The publisher has a wide range of retro-related games coming up for the remainder of 2023, with both re-releases of old favourites and sequels in classic franchises, so we recently took the opportunity to see them in action and get some hands-on time with some of them.

Of the games we saw, should already be available for PS4, PS5 and Switch by the time you read this (our review is on page 96). This fantasy real-time strategy game is an updated remaster of the PS2 game , which was developed by Vanillaware and originally released in 2007. If you’re familiar with the original or other Vanillaware games such as and , you’ll be expecting beautiful 2D graphics and doesn’t disappoint – we’ve enjoyed reviewing it, and it felt as though it had been designed for high-definition displays from the start.
