WORMWOOD & MUGWORT

Artemisia is a large and diverse genus of interesting, highly fragrant plants. They belong to the daisy family, Asteraceae, and their strong scent comes from the concentrated essential oils within the foliage.

Many are also grown for their fabulous silvery or grey-green leaves, which are often hirsute (furry) — an indication that Artemisia species love dry weather or, at the very least, tolerate it and are genetically set up for it.

Their light colour reduces heat absorption and reflects the sun, making them ideal for hot areas and sunny spots. The hairy foliage captures water, which accounts for’s drought tolerance.
