Q I’d like to begin making strings, but I don’t understand all the materials. There seems to be a million different types of material available, and people at my club have so many different opinions.

I began making bowstrings after my archery instructor course in 1979. We were shown how to make them as part of the course and I’ve been making then ever since. It’s a hobby, so I only recover my costs and make strings for club members and other archers who have liked my strings over the years.
