‘QUIET LINES’ COLLECTION

by Gabriel Tan, for B&B Italia

Singaporean designer Gabriel Tan’s first collaboration with B&B Italia, ‘Quiet Lines’ comprises a writing desk and bedside table (both pictured here), as well as a stool, bench and folding screen. All are defined by strong graphic silhouettes featuring slim structures that support soft and curvaceous leather surfaces, decked out in colour and material palettes that contribute to the calm visual approach chosen by the designer. The series ‘embraces a paradox: inviting rest and comfort, while awakening the senses,’ says Tan. ‘Curved, padded surfaces form a tactile, protective layer for us to sit on or display our most precious possessions, while dampening sound when objects are placed on them,’ he explains. ‘Sling-like elements are offset subtly from the steel frame to give a feeling of lightness. The silhouette of each piece consists of curved and straight lines, forming graphic compositions.’
