The uplands, Wayre it’s all happening AL’S SPORTING TOUR

For this sporting tour, I was invited to join my fellow Shooting Times contributor Lindsay Waddell in County Durham. The uplands hold a special place in my heart; a place where I feel most at peace. The wildlife they hold and the rarity of the habitat makes them one of our island’s treasures, as well as the habitat that is perhaps least understood.

I met Lindsay near one of the sites where he manages about 250 acres of first-class upland habitat. Lindsay is a lifelong gamekeeper and has served as the chairman of the National Gamekeepers’ Organisation, but he now spends his time supporting the Philip Wayre Upland Trust, which strives to protect
