Country Life

In global memoriam

ONE cannot understate the influence of Pablo Picasso (above). The creative behemoth changed the face of modern art throughout his 80-year career, with an oeuvre that spans stark realism, Surrealist imagery, the advent of Cubism, classical mythology and more. He was equally unbridled by any one medium, creating some 20,000 paintings, sculptures, ceramics, drawings, costumes and stage sets throughout his lifetime.

To commemorate 50 years since his death, the many facets of his life and work are being honoured under the umbrella of ‘Celebration Picasso 1973–2023’.
