Evan had his brand new Sabatti in 9.3x74R and was keen to use it. On the first morning of our hunt, Doc and Bernie had gone for a ride on the quad and spotted a good boar, so Scott took Evan out to the same place to try to get it.

THEY parked 500 metres downwind and were stalking slowly towards the waterhole when Scott spotted a small boar walking to where they had parked the quad. Sneaking to a paperbark tree, Evan took a lean and fired a walking shot with his new pride and joy. But at the shot, the boar took off.

Evan chambered another round and fired again at the sprinting pig. Simultaneously, a tree splintered and the boar dropped dead. It turned out the second shot had hit the tree
