Bomb from World War II found in Darwin Harbour

In September 2022, commercial divers found a suspected World War II bomb in Darwin Harbour. The divers were surveying the harbour as part of the Darwin Ship Lift Project when they came across the unexploded weapon lying on the sea floor. Authorities declared a 250-metre exclusion zone around the site and mariners were banned from entering that section of the harbour.

The Royal Australian Navy’s Clearance Diving Team One was called to locate
