Michael Rhodes

September 16, 1953 – March 4, 2023

Joe Bonamassa and Beth Hart were among those to mourn the passing of the popular bassist, whose work appeared on albums from Steve Winwood, Larry Carlton and more. “I cannot even process this right,” commented Bonamassa, calling Michael Rhodes “one of the greatest to ever pick up a bass.” Added Hart: “You brought my soul UP UP UP!” The 69-year-old died of pancreatic cancer.

Bruce Barthol

November 11, 1947 – February 20, 2023

The original bassist for Country Joe And The Fish has died of unreported cause at 75. California-born Bruce Barthol appeared on the first three albums from the Bay Area psychedelic-folk-rock band, released between 1967
