ENTRY LEVEL VS. PRO-GRADE INKJET PRINTER

Hope, so far, you have been enjoying reading the articles on the topic of print. This time, let us look at entry level Vs. professional grade inkjet printers. The reason being, there are times when some photographers get in touch with me to query about the kind of photo printer, they should invest in.

I always say that, if you are a professional photographer or a serious amateur, it makes sense to invest in a professional-grade inkjet photo printer with pigment inks that go beyond 6 colours (including matte black, photo black and grey) and not an entry-level one with just four or six-colour dye-based inks. When it comes to producing high-quality work, pigment ink is the preferred choice because this type of ink is known for its durability and ability to withstand the effects of UV light. Further, pigment ink is known for its archival properties. These printers are also known to produce excellent black-and-white prints. Of course, goes without saying that, archival inks require museum-grade inkjet papers to do full justice to your treasured images.
