VOGUE AUSTRALIA: Uncut Gem is based on the personal cologne of famed perfumer Maurice Roucel, who you convinced to collaborate especially for Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle. What was it that drew you to it?

“What I liked was that fresh perfumes usually are of one type – especially when you go for naturals. You have notes of lemon and mandarin, usually derived for cologne. But I liked the idea that he added juniper, which was very unusual, and angelica, which made it quirky and quite smart. It was a bit more iris originally. Then I thought we could add
