The modern day dirtbike perch is an Achilles Heel for short-arses. In 1973 the Honda XL250 had a seat height of 850mm. For the next ten years, Honda fed the XL250R nothing but hormone-injected chicken and in 1983 the XL250R had a seat height of 879mm. That seat height continued to grow exponentially and by 1993, the seat height of the Honda XR250 was 905mm.
By 2003 the Honda XR 250R had a seat height of 920mm before it was discontinued. From this year on, high-powered four-strokes took over from the humble trail motor and seat heights continued to grow. In 2013 the seat height of the Husqvarna TE 250R (the Italian built machines) reached 950mm. The seat height of the 2023 Husqvarna FE 250 is still at 950mm. That's a staggering 100mm increase
