There's nothing worse than waking up at dawn to go for a ride and opening your garage door, only to find your precious dirtbike not there. It's an all-toocommon experience for many Australians with over 9,000 motorcycles stolen across Australia each year, according to the National Motor Vehicle Theft Reduction Council (NMVTRC). Sadly motorcycle thefts now account for one in six of all stolen vehicles in Australia and it gets worse if your bike is new and a small capacity machine.

The NMVTRC revealed that almost 30 per cent of stolen motorcycles are five years or younger and disturbingly, almost two in three are stolen from a home. Their research also states that motorcycles with an engine capacity of 150cc or less, such as minibikes, are the top theft targets, closely followed by 251-500cc motorcycles. This is seriously worrying for dirtbike riders because that capacity range is right in our sweet spot.

Occasionally you will hear of dirtbikes being recovered but sadly, more than 50 percent of motorcycles stolen are never found. It's not good news for you Mexicans either as Victoria tops the
