TWO cracking Southern Area title fights entertained the York Hall crowd at the latest Goodwin Boxing show, with Piotr Mirga and Denis Denikajev winning the 10-rounders on points.

Mirga, a Southend-based Pole nicknamed “Gypsy”, almost got old rival Ryan Walker out of there in the opening session for the vacant super-bantam title but then had to withstand a fightback before triumphing 97-93 for referee Lee Every.

With big advantages in height and reach, Mirga stood off as Walker came in –
