Essential gear for Te Araroa

Walking 3000km through the New Zealand backcountry will put any kit through its paces. Every tramper has different requirements, so what's best to take for Te Araroa?

Chances are, you've heard of the ‘Big Four’. These are the largest and heaviest items a tramper will carry; pack, tent, sleeping bag and sleeping pad and are fundamental to any long-distance hike.
