VW Transporters

T1 (1950-1967)

Perhaps the best-known of the Volkswagen Transporter linage is the very first Type 2, identified by its split windscreen. Fondly known as the ‘Splitscreen’, ‘Splittie’ or ‘Microbus’, the earliest of the Type 2 models was built between 1950 and 1967. Note that it would not become known as the ‘T1’ until later, when the nomenclature was applied to the early Transporters retrospectively. Today these are highly sought after with a massive enthusiast following.
