HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS

Buckling up, I could tell there was a question lingering in the air.

For some reason, the car would always be the place to get our thoughts out in the open.

‘What do you think Dad will come back as?’ my son Finley, now 10, asked, with his big brother Rory, now 14, sat beside him.

‘I think he will come back as a shark, so he can eat other things,’ Finley said.

‘A shark?’ I giggled – that was a new one.

Only, the boys’ innocence sure did brighten the mood, and we often found ourselves talking about their dad, my husband Peter, ever since he had suddenly passed away in August 2015.

After meeting at my best friend’s wedding in Belfast in 2000, we got married ourselves four years later, before starting a happy family of our own.
