Moody blues

HOW DO YOU CREATE a large work that conveys a true sense of place? I am going to take you on my journey from en plein air to large studio work. I will be working in oil for both paintings, starting with a small plein air work – painted in situ – and use that as my primary source back in the studio. You will see how, even with a loose style, you can easily scale up.

My work is about a ‘mood,’ a ‘moment’ and not about total representation. The wonderful thing about work is that, when you paint outside, you pick up on the environment with all your senses. I believe this is what makes work so special.
