“I WANT TO PLAY. BUT I DON’T GO TO BED AT NIGHT ‘NEEDING’ TO PLAY LIKE I DID WHEN I WAS YOUNGER.”

I have no doubt that this little fact escaped the notice of most people, but early this year I played all four rounds in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on the PGA Tour.

Making the cut there was nice, of course, given the event was my first appearance at that level in almost a year. But making it to the last day actually had a wider significance. I jumped maybe 50 places on the list of exemption categories, high enough to gain a place in the Honda Classic (what was actually my 400th start on the PGA Tour) and, one week later, at the Puerto Rico Open.
