Let’s face it, 2023 did not start off with a celebratory bang. Rumbling electrical appliances in a death knoll due to power surges, an inverter screaming in agony every night during load-shedding, and a burst geyser dumping streams of water in the ceiling and down a passage wall did not inspire me to grab a bottle of sparkling wine to have a toast.
