GUERNSEY

Guernsey Post’s philatelic bureau has released a new six-stamp set to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the publication of Jules Verne’s Around the World in 80 Days.

Key moments in, now shadowed by Inspector Fix. On the 87p stamp, the voyagers, pursued by Fix, are travelling from Kholby to Allahabad by elephant. The £1.21 stamps shows Fogg, Passepartout and Princess Aouda, whom Fogg has rescued, leaving Yokohama on the steamer , with Fix hiding onboard. The trio are being chased by wolves on their sail-sled journey to Omaha on the £1.39 stamp, and finally, on the £1.50 stamp, a triumphantly returned Fogg is shown at the Reform Club, having won his bet.
