Towards the end of on Jade Warrior’s 1974 album , Jon Field plays a short quote on flute from Claude Debussy’s symphonic. It may be a piece of musical drollery, but then the 19th-century French composer and Jade Warrior have both been inspired by ideas from Eastern music and culture and incorporated them into a highly personal style. Yet rather than just purveying a kind of prog Chinoiserie, Jade Warrior produced a hybrid unlike any of their 70s peers.
