It is a time of year when garage / shed work is less than welcome, on account of those being cold places, at a cold time of year. Indeed, that is why the Flying Flea engine went into a spare room, where tinkering could be done in more warmth and comfort (it will eventually become apparent that more than ‘tinkering’ will be required to restore it to working order). So why is it that work suddenly piles up at this time? Perhaps PUB should not ride the bikes over winter, which would reduce the effects of salt, and keep any faults hidden until the spring at least. The scruffy Suzuki, however, is winter transport, but maybe its MoT could have been arranged at a better time of year?
But no, the MoT is due shortly, so the bike needed a checkover, although it is generally kept fairly up to scratch mechanically if not cosmetically. However, the last chain fitted was, by accident, a non O-ring type, and has worn and suffered in salt more than usual for the standard O-ring fitting. Indeed it had stiffened up a bit, but whilst
