A mobile version of Nvidia’s GeForce 40 series was one of the big stories of CES 2023, so I jumped at the opportunity when Asus offered me a fortnight with this 2023 update to the ROG Zephyrus M16.
Particularly so when my review unit included RTX 4090 graphics, which sits at the top of Nvidia’s mobile range. There are five variants available, and a gulf in their abilities too: for example, the RTX 4050 at the bottom has 2,560 CUDA cores to the 9,728 of the RTX 4090, and 20 ray tracing cores to 76 for its big brother.
The chips need much more wattage as they move up Nvidia’s scale, and that translates into laptop thickness. Which is one of the things that’s most impressive about the Zephyrus M16: it includes the 145W version of the RTX 4090,
