It’s like the haute horlogerie equivalent of the ‘no make-up’ make-up look. Bulgari’s latest Serpenti Tubogas looks and feels exactly like its forebears, as if not a thing was changed, but in truth it belies an innovative construction that opens up a world of new possibilities—for the model as well as its maker.
Tubogas, as jewellery enthusiasts are aware, is the name for the Italian style of goldsmithing where bracelets and cuffs are made by wrapping several metres-long thin, flat wires of gold or steel around a flexible internal metal coil.
