The kit
So you’re ready to leave the civilised world behind and head out into the outdoors for a while. The more wild your site, the more your kit choice becomes about survival rather than comfort. The first items I would focus on would be a lightweight backpacking tent, a good-sized rucksack and a sleeping bag that will keep you warm. Then you’re pretty much ready to hit the hills. The biggest tip I would offer is try not to overthink it. You will make mistakes. This is all part of the journey.’
