The best places to fish on any given estuary aren’t always the most obvious.

I used to think that if you followed the crowd, you’d find the fish.

But I gradually learned that, in many cases, anglers and boats simply gather in one spot simply because other anglers and boats are there.

They aren’t necessarily catching fish, either. They’re there because it’s often the closest spot to the ramp or the deepest part of the inlet.

Either way, it’s a classic case of anglers acting a bit like sheep. And sheep don’t tend to catch many fish.
