SPOKES IN THE WHEEL Unexpected setbacks interrupted Keighley’s ambition to win back-to-back titles. The day after head coach Dan McGee was rushed to hospital for an emergency hernia operation, his side suffered a surprise 32-20 loss to West Leeds.

The following week, Keighley were leading Beverley 19-17 when the Yorkshire One match was abandoned 11 minutes from full-time after referee Andy Baker pulled a hamstring.
