What Are Faces For?

Meet Foxy Face. He’s a bat, but with his furry face, perked ears, large eyes, and pointed nose, he looks a lot like a fox, or maybe a dog. You might see Foxy and say, “Awww, isn’t he cute?”

Now meet Foxy Face’s cousin, Leafy Nose. Leafy Nose looks a little weird. He has a short, pushed-in nose. Around his nose are folds of skin that look a little like crinkled-up leaves. There are more folds of skin above each of his small eyes. His ridged ears look much too big for his body. You might look at him and say, “What is that?”
