I RECENTLY PAINTED A SIMILAR PORTRAIT of Fiona as part of my One Hundred Heads project. I decided to paint another one as I loved the way the light was falling onto her face, creating dramatic shadows and beautiful bursts of light. I also thought it would be interesting to have another go at trying to capture her transparent glasses, demonstrating how much colour there actually is in (or on) them.

I love being able to paint a portrait from a live sitting but more often than not I use photographs as a reference. When considering which photo to use, I try and think about which elements
